Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
In the beginning was God. God was everything. He was eternal. He had (and has) no limits---no boundaries---no lack whatsoever. He was God. He envisioned a universe, an earth, time and space, and a human who was to be created in HIS image, and out of that vision HE created the heavens and the earth. BUT the creation at this point was "formless and void." We might use the word "chaos" to describe the scene. It was an empty wasteland without form---without order. It was dark. It was chaotic.
