Chaos To Order

Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  2  The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 

In the beginning was God.  God was everything.  He was eternal.  He had  (and has) no limits---no boundaries---no lack whatsoever.  He was God.  He envisioned a universe, an earth, time and space, and a human who was to be created in HIS image, and out of that vision HE created the heavens and the earth.  

BUT the creation at this point was "formless and void."  We might use the word "chaos" to describe the scene.  It was an empty wasteland without form---without order.  It was dark.  It was chaotic.

3  Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.  4  God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 

God speaks and ORDER begins to come into the creation out of the chaos.  He continues to declare and all of HIS glorious vision comes into focus as we continue reading the scripture.  HIS creation is GOOD, it is perfect,  it is GOD.

How many of us deal with chaos on a daily basis?  It seems to be the natural state of the world, of governments, of business, schools, even the church.  Much of the work that we do in our professional life is focused on bringing order to the disorder.  

My point is that when God speaks, HE brings order to the chaos.  HE did in the creation story, HE does the same now.  When God speaks, order comes into YOUR life and mine.  Order comes into our families, our communities, our schools, our governments.  When we listen for HIS voice (He says His sheep hear His voice) and we RESPOND, then we find our lives are being transformed from the chaos of this world into the wonderful order of HIS kingdom.

And here's another thought.  When we are hearing HIS words, we are being changed---but when we are speaking out HIS words in love, others around us are being affected as well.   And God saw that it was good.
